Motivation Monday Mini Blog - 8/24/26

Good morning and happy Monday! Going to try a new little mini blog series simply titled "Motivation Monday". Typically we say something like "I'll start Monday" or "Monday is a good starting point."

What makes Mondays so special? Technically speaking, Sunday is the start of the week. Look at most Gregorian calendars and Sunday is first day of a week. But since by and large most people are off work, it's still considered the weekend. I digress.

I started thinking about this a few weeks back. We are just assailed daily with negativity and division. Social Media, once began as a tool to help friends and family stay connected has devolved into a battleground for hatred and dislike. Unless you're watching a bunch of cat videos. Who can hate on cute cat videos? (That is NOT a challenge by the way).

So rather than continuing to sow seeds of dissent, how about we as a gym and tech community find ways to lift each other up? Motivation Monday! I'm sure it's not a new concept but one that can be used more.

With that in mind, let's think about how we can help someone today. Do you have a co-worker struggling with a project or task that you have insight into? Offer a hand. You may very well have knowledge in a subject that can be passed along and help elevate them. I feel that in the tech industry we fall into a gatekeeper mentality, that if someone else knows what we know then our job is in jeopardy. Your team is only as strong as the weakest link, so wouldn't it make sense for everyone to be durable? I'm as guilty as anyone in this regard, but attempting to do better.

When it comes to the gym, perhaps you see someone there daily that's grinding it out. Don't make it weird, but maybe just offer a kind word letting them know you recognize their efforts and hard work. You have no idea what the affirmation of a stranger can mean to someone! Words have power!

So how about followers? Can we take this Monday and make it special for ourselves and someone else? Challenge yourself to be a motivator and lift each other up rather than tear down! Go crush some goals!
